The front door is one place where much heat is lost from your home; no doubt you will have a radiator in the hallway; someone comes in, all the heat goes out and we don't need to tell you that heating is one of most rapidly rising costs for the home owner today, so taking steps to keep the heat in will definitely pay off. Obviously the extra space is a great place to leave muddy shoes, umbrellas, coats and other bulky outwear and it gives you an extra barrier against opportunist thieves.
